Mr. James Herbert Asberry, Jr. was born on December 19,1958 to the late James Herbert Asberry Sr and Mrs. Rosa Anna Kemp Asberry, in Jacksonville, Florida.

James affectionately was called "Lil James or Uncle Pork Chop" by those who loved him.

James received his education through the Duval County Public School System.

James was an active member of Greater Zion Grove Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor W. O. Tucker, Sr., until his health failed. He was a member of the Mass Choir.

James united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Antionette Johnson Asberry until death due them apart after 32 years.

James worked for Griffin Gas Company for 30 years and also with his little brother in concrete and tire shop business until his health felled.

James was also known for his devoted love for his family and friends. He loved to cook especially collard greens. He loved to dance, and his favorite singer was Tina Turner which he loved her legs.

James made his Heavenly transition at the age of sixty-four on January 19, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. James and Mrs. Rosa Asberry, Sr., sisters, Gwendolyn G. Kempt and Mrs. Valerie D. Jackson, niece, Latanya Lively, nephew, Tysiah Samuels and mother-in-law, Elouise Keye.

James leaves to cherish his precious memories: a devoted and beautiful wife of 32 years, Mrs. Antoinette Asberry; sons, Jervaugh Keye, James H. Asberry, III, Jeremy Asberry and Jashawn Asberry; nineteen grandchildren; brothers, Melvin D. Asberry and Danny L. Asberry; devoted sister, Charlene Asberry; aunts, Mrs. Clara Holloway (other mother)  and Teresa Kemp; god son, Terrence White, Jr.; god brothers and sisters, The White Family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends among them his best friend, Mark Kohn.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
