Richard Hayes, Sr. was born June 4, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Gladys Jones and Eddie Hayes.

Richard attended Douglas Anderson School and other schools in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.

Richard worked at Pringle Concrete Company, building swimming pools for over 50 years.

Richard was a loving kind father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren, as well as loving and to his other family and friends.

Richard answered God's calling on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Gertrude Jones and Eddie Hayes, Jr., grandfather, Eddie Hayes, Sr., son, Chuma Steward, Larry McKenzy, brothers, Eddie Jones, and Walter Hayes.

Richard leaves to cherish his precious memory his children, Patrice Hayes, Shalondo Hayes-white (Johnny, Richard Hayes, Jr., Mutakeem Neal and, Tanadaya Steward; grandchildren, Kent'e, Toney, Sh'tara, Cedric, special grandson, Jawad, Rishawn, Johnathan, Jonesha, Sequoya, Aspen, Unique, Jahleel, Honesty, Chumia and Shumar; 10 great grandchildren, sisters, Barbara Hayes (favorite) and Frances Cooper; sister-in-law, Lucille Hayes; a host of nieces among them Marva Hayes, nephews among them Frederick Hayes, cousins, other relatives and friends.
